~ Silent Dubai!! ~

It is officially a public holiday today. Nope, it is not due to religion or someone's death...it is due to the arrival of bushman and his entourage!!!!
See, this is the funny bit. All the slip roads leading to main busy Dubai was shut down yesterday. It was major traffic jam, seriously major!! An ordinary trip from Karama to World Trade Centre would normally take 15 minutes....it took 2 bloody hours yesterday!!!
Plus the rain ( rain in the middle east??!!! seriously global warming, I tell you!!!)..... equals NOT GOOD!!!
At first, they decided that them coppers are going to escort the school students this morning. Then they changed their mind, declaring that today will be a PUBLIC HOLIDAY!!!! They must have thought "it is utterly ridiculous to escort them students coz they range from primary to uni. " Seriously, I mean, how many coppers do they need???!!!! ALOT!!!
For those who have never been to Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, let me paint a picture for you.
On a normal day, SZR is NEVER quiet. Imagine, Orchard Road Singapore. Imagine New York. Imagine Hong Kong. Imagine, imagine, imagine...ok ok you get my drift.
See, how SZR looks today, at 1.30pm courtesy of a mate of mine who stays at SZR.

note: the dark gloomy sky not bright on a mid-afternoon

WWWUUUAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Let's see...what will be the right word? GHOSTLY!!!!!
All for him??!!! hhhmmm.....
Apparently, when the city shuts down, the lost of productivity for this wonderful state is AED300 million!!! = USD 100 mill!!!
I am so glad I am no longer working in the hospitality industry anymore. Can you imagine all the hassle? Ranging from the airport to the hotels....What a 'kefarfle'!!!
On the other hand, if they don't have this proper extremely tight security, I seriously DON'T want to be bombed!!! I don't want to DIE!!!!!
Oh well.
Ho hum...

~Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008~

Mr & Mrs C

The Family

I am still here people!!!

How was your new year's celebration yesterday? Mine was really posh. And we didn't even pay for any of it!! Ok, I tell a lie, paid for the cab fare. Actually, not even when you think about it. See, Dave got the gig last night as a DJ. So, we gotta mingle with some of the really loaded people of Dubai yesterday night.

I remember welcoming 2007 in Bangkok, comtemplating whether should go out since the news we got after landing was there were bomb blasts in Bangkok!! Remember that time?? Hhhmm...can't believe a year has gone past.

I am now married and no longer flying. I love what I do now.

So, I don't wish to say anything else...got my eye on footie as I am typing this.

I have, however, posted a couple of pictures of last night.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
